HSU Announces New Dean of the Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies

Dr. Doug McIntyre has been appointed as the new dean of Hardin-Simmons University’s Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies, where he holds the Charles and Pauline Brinkley Endowed Chair of Business. He will officially step into this role in June 2025 and will succeed Dr. Robert Tucker, who will transition to the Director of the Julius Olsen Honors Program.
Dr. McIntyre, who earned his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, has been a faculty member at HSU since 2000, initially serving as an adjunct professor while balancing a full-time career in banking and financial services. After 23 years as a banker, Dr. McIntyre shifted his focus to full-time education in 2006.
“I feel humbled and privileged to lead the Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies alongside our exceptional faculty and staff,” said Dr. McIntyre. “Together with our team of professionals, I look forward to building upon the legacies of HSU leaders Mike Monhollon and Dr. Robert Tucker, while providing students with real-world classroom experiences, fostering robust partnerships with the business community, and fully engaging with HSU alumni.”
“Dr. McIntyre’s career trajectory gives him a unique perspective stepping into the role of Dean,” said Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Chris McNair. “From serving as ASC Champion assistant softball coach, to his vast community involvement, Dr. McIntyre has a distinct perspective on how to help prepare HSU students for the workforce and the future is bright.”
His extensive experience spans budget and personnel management, loan and real estate portfolio oversight, and significant service to nonprofits across Texas. He has completed the Basic and Advanced Trust Administration School at Southern Methodist University, and brings expertise in farm and ranch appraisal, brokerage, and consulting. During his tenure in banking, he managed portfolios exceeding $500 million and covering 600,000 acres. Alongside his financial and real estate experience, Dr. McIntyre is deeply committed to education, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the classroom that bridges industry expertise with academic excellence.
“I join with all of my colleagues at Hardin-Simmons in congratulating Dr. McIntyre on his new position,” said Hardin-Simmons University President Eric Bruntmyer. “I express my gratitude to Dr. Tucker for his leadership with one of the largest colleges on campus, and I look forward to Dr. McIntyre’s contributions to the college and across the university as we continue our commitment to providing a Christ-centered education that prepares students for both professional success and a life of faith-driven purpose.”
McIntyre envisions building on the Kelley College of Business and Professional Studies’ strong legacy by developing and cultivating Christ-centered business and education leaders who excel in ethical decision-making, embrace innovation, and transform their communities through faith, integrity, and purpose-driven leadership. He believes that faith is a critical component of shaping successful and ethical professionals—guiding them not only as business and education leaders but also as creators of wealth, knowledge, and critical thinking skills that serve the greater good.
